Look at Me!

We are on our last night of vacation. Tomorrow we will go home and get ready for work next week. While we were gone, Matt took a picture of my stomach. It sort of looks like a beer gut, but I assure you it has grown! I will be nine weeks tomorrow so it's early still. I can't imagine how big it will be at nine months! I bought a swim suit today and just giggled when I thought about me in July at the beach. I have been really nauseated, but that too shall pass. When I was in the maternity store today, the cashier looked at me questionably as if I were lying when I said I was only 8 weeks pregnant. It is pretty amazing how fast things are changing. Tuesday will be my next doctor's visit and I hope to see a better picture of Baby Hennesy!

This Cold is for the Birds!

I've been battling a cold now for several days and it's about to get the best of me. I'm exhausted and nauseated...bad combination. Last night was another bad one. It seemed as if the moment I laid down, my stomach started churning. I'm not exactly sure why nights seem to be worse. I'm starting to wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I'm taking my vitamins at night. I went to get blood work today and will go back to the doctor on March 3. I'm looking forward to seeing a clearer picture on the ultra sound. Matt and I are planning to go on vacation beginning this weekend so I am hopeful this cold gets better very soon.

Everything is Progressing

My doctor's visit yesterday went very well. While Baby Hennesy is not much more than a blob at this time, we could see and hear a strong heart beat. It was flashing like a light and beating fast. I was pretty amazed by the fact that even this early in the pregnancy there is already a heartbeat! The doctor measured the baby and said he didn't feel comfortable giving me a firm due date, but at this time it would be October 2. October 2 is my dad's birthday so of course he was so excited! He said he had been praying that the baby would be born on his birthday. My sister was born on our grandfather's birthday so it would be really cool to have our child born on my dad's birthday. I have still been nauseated and nights seem to be much worse. Food doesn't sound good, but for the most part everything still taste ok. I am just thankful that everything seems to be moving right along normally. We'll know more after next visit on March 3.

P.S.- They made a note on our chart that we didn't want to know the sex. I am looking forward to being able to guess and then finally be surprised!

Don't Forget about Daddy

I figured out over the weekend that Matt was feeling a little left out. No one was asking him "how are you doing?" Everyone has been focused on me and baby. While I've been joking about it, he's been such a good sport. He's been so great at taking care of me. Last night was very rough. I started vomiting last night and it was not fun. I have a lot to be thankful for and hope this nausea and vomiting will not last the whole time. According to the internet, I should be well into my sixth week so I'm hoping that means I'm about half way through the sickest period. We'll know more on Wednesday after our doctors visit.

Bring on the Nausea

Today hasn't started off that great. I was nauseated when I got up this morning. Since I felt sick, I didn't eat anything. I did drink some gingerale (which seems to settle my stomach) but against my better judgement I didn't eat. Big Mistake! From now on it's going to be force feeding regardless of hunger.

Baby Hennesy Likes Spice!

For the last three days, I have been queasy throughout the day. I've been told by several friends to be sure to eat regardless of hunger. I started off the day with mini saltines and I must say they are far more tasty than their bigger version. At lunch, I had shrimp fajitas which were very spicy. Those actually settled very well. I've decided that baby Hennesy must like spice since the hotter the better. I'm sure the heartburn that will surely follow sometime will make me change my mind.

The Good News!

Well, we found out last Wednesday, January 28, that I was definitely pregnant. I started this blog upon request from a friend to keep everyone updated on the progress. I am probably only about 5-6 weeks pregnant and don't have an exact due date. The doctor guesses the end of September or first of October. My dad is hoping it will be on his birthday, October 2. We don't plan to find out the sex which is disappointing to some. We should, however, have a more precise due date after my next appointment a week from tomorrow. I haven't felt bad until yesterday...and still not too bad. I've just been queasy throughout the day and no food sounds good anymore. Those that know me are probably laughing because you know I love to eat. It's certainly not like me not to want to eat, but I don't. Until next time..
