3 Months Old!!

We have been lazy with blog updates lately with the busy month of December. Holley Ryan turned 3 months old on Christmas Eve. As you can see, she is growing up fast.

Kissing Cousins

Tonight we went to my mom's for dinner with my family, aunts, uncles, cousins and Matt's family too. My cousin's little girl Raylea is super crazy about babies and more importantly loves to kiss on them. This is just the beginning of a life long friendship.

Griswald Christmas (Hennesy Style)

We don't have any pictures of Holley Ryan in this update, rather this is the story of her first Christmas tree. I got up early this morning and braved the crowds at Wal-Mart. I wasn't really shopping for any big ticket items but it was fun to watch Coffee county's finest maul each over 50 cent sheets and towels. I came home and picked up Lori and Holley Ryan and we went to Lowe's to pick out a tree (Actually, I picked out the tree because Lori said it was too cold, so her and Holley Ryan sat in the car). After a diligent search (i.e. grabbing the first tree I came upon), I got the young high school kid working the garden center to lash the tree onto the roof of the 'Vous. I told him not to kill himself latching it down since we were only going a couple of miles. Needless to say we barely made it home. We rode over half the way to the house with it nearly rolling off the back of the car, as you can see from the picture(the tree started between the luggage racks).

2 Months Old!

Holley Ryan has made it to the two month old mark. At her check up she was up to 12 pounds and 25 inches long. She is in the upper percentile for both measurements. She is getting better about sleeping at night. Last night she went to sleep at 11p.m and did not wake up again until 6:30a.m. Mom and Dad were proud to say the least. We have a lot to be thankful for as Thanksgiving approaches this week. Most of all our beautiful little girl.

Growing Fast

Holley Ryan is growing really fast. At her doctor visit last week she weighed in at 12 lbs.!!! That is a bunch of growing since she arrived 7 weeks ago(7.2lbs on 9-24-09).

It's beginning to feel like fall in Douglas.

The weather was a little cooler when we woke up this morning, so Holley decided to try out one of her hats. A big thanks to Ms. Annie Farrar for making me a new hat.

Picture Update

Here is a picture I snapped tonight just after Holley Ryan's bath. Since her cord fell off, bath time is now her favorite time of the day.

1 Month Old!!!!

It seems impossible, but it has been one month since Holley Ryan was born. She is growing really fast already. At her 3 week pediatrician visit she had gained 2 pounds and has grown 2 inches since she was born (She is now 9 lbs and 22 inches long). We have not done a good job updating the blog the last couple of weeks but will try and catch up some this week.

Alex, I'll take "Things Matt & Lori didn't see on Monday Night" for $500.

The Question would be this:
Holley Ryan didn't have a great night of sleep last night, so we didn't either. Lori snapped this shot today while I was at work. It looks like she is resting up so she can have more fun tonight.

Trying Out My New Hat!

Holley Ryan's friend Ella Hopwood sent her this snazzy hat in the mail today. Although she looks like she is screaming in the first picture, she is actually just letting out a big yawn. Thanks for the hat Ella! When we get bigger I can't wait to come up to Chicago and visit.

First Doctor Visit

Holley Ryan is worn out after a long afternoon at the pediatrician's office. Dr. Davis said she might have a touch of jaundice so they did a blood test to make sure. We don't know the results yet, but even if she does all we have to do is get her out in the sun some. She weighed in at 6lbs. 15 oz. The doctor noted that most breast fed babies have lost 8oz. on the first doctors visit and Holley Ryan has only lost 2 oz., so she is getting plenty of food.

Saying Her Prayers

I just snapped this picture a few minutes ago. We hope she was praying for a restful night for mom and dad.

Jay Meets Holley Ryan

Holley Ryan got to meet her cousin Jay this morning. Jay wasn't quite ready to hold her but did bring her a couple of rubber ducks for her first bath.

We are on our way to Athens for the game.

Just kidding. Last night was not perfect but we made it. I think Holley Ryan's a little confused between night and day right now. She acted like she didn't want to sleep last night but can't stay awake this morning. We think maybe the problem is that she was hungry since Lori's milk is not really flowing yet. We gave her about an ounce of formula and she slept for about 3 hours straight. Stay tuned!!

Home Sweet Home!!

We finally made it home about 8:15p.m. We were actually finished with the entire discharge process about an hour before that, but the nurses were going into a shift change at 7p.m. and I think we got lost in the chaos. Anyway, we are happy to be home. All three of us are exhausted and ready for some rest tonight (and tomorrow). I just put a sign on the front door to discourage visitors until at least 1p.m. Sat., so Lori can get some rest. She has only slept a total of three hours the last two nights. If anyone rings our door bell in the morning they might get cut.

Holley Ryan's Stats

Length: 20 Inches
Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz.
Poops: 1 (more forcasted)

I was standing over the nurse when she took her footprints just after she was born and her feet would barely fit in the box on the form. So it looks like she got her mom's big feet.

Pictures and Update (10:45 a.m.)

Here are a few more pictures. Lori and the baby are doing excellent. They took Lori's IV out about 9:30p.m. last night and the baby made good progress as well. The pediatrician checked her out this morning and gave her a clean bill of health. They said she had her first library visit in the nursery last night so we did not have to change that diaper. I guess there are some first in life the parents don't mind missing. Since Lori and Holley Ryan are doing so well they are supposed to release us this evening sometime.

First pic for the Blog

I am having some technical difficulties but will try and get some more up soon.

Holley Ryan Has Arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you can probably guess by now Holley Ryan has made her grand entrance! Lori reached ten cm and started pushing at 4:30p.m. She was delivered at 5:49p.m. We still don't know the weight but it looks like just under 8 pounds. I will post more and pictures later. Mom is doing well and they are trying Two hours of sleep and the elation of seeing something so beautiful for the first time has left me speechless for probably the first time in my life.
Matt

now at 8 cm (3:45p.m.)

made a 1 cm move in 30 minutes.

Now at 7 cm (3:15p.m.)

Seems to be sticking around the 1 cm per hour movement, which is good.

A Quick Move!! (2:15p.m.)

Lori awoke from a 45 minute power nap and was hurting so the nurse decided to check her progress just to be sure. She is now at 6 cm. They are giving her a redose on the epidural.

Halfway!!! (1:15p.m.)

Lori hit the 5 cm mark about 1p.m. The nurse will check her again at 3:30 or so. They are still happy with the progress at this point.
Matt

Dr. Goldberg makes another visit (11:20am)

Doc checked again and is confirming the nurses call of 4.5 cm. and 70% thinned out. He seems to think she is progressing very well. He now is predicting before dark, but maybe sooner (actually that is the same prediction we got earlier, but I think he was saying that for our benefit this morning).

10:30a.m. update

Not much news really. Dilated to 4.5 cm and cervix is 60% thinned out. We have not seen the Doctor again but we think he went to see his patients at his office. We won't have another report from him until after lunch. The nurse said she will check her every three hours. I will try and post again about lunch if there is anything happening.

Epidural (Hallelujah!) 8:40am

The epidural is in and is starting to take effect. She is at 4cm. Now that Lori is comfortable I am sending her out to get me some breakfast and coffee. I'll update further when she gets back.

Water Break! (7:40am)

Dr. Goldberg just came in and reviewed Lori's progress. She has moved to 2 cm. Since she was over 2 he went ahead and broke her water. The doc said she could go ahead and get the epidural whenever she was ready. SHE IS READY! At this stage he predicts a late afternoon or early evening delivery. I'll update again after the epidural.

Pitocin a Flowing! (6:45a.m. Update)

The nurse started the pitocin about an hour ago and the contractions and coming fast and furious now. They offered pain meds through the IV about 2 hours ago but Lori was able to hold off until just now. Since the pain medication has started Lori has been a little loopy (some would say this is normal for her). Dr. Goldberg should be by to make his rounds in the next hour and will possibly break her water. Lori got maybe 1.5 hours sleep which is more than I expected. I snuck in probably 2.5 hours. I'll give another update after we see the doc.
Matt

Bring on the Pain Meds! (3 a.m. Update)

Contractions are starting to pick up and we are beyond the 1 cm mark. We are still probably two or three hours from the petosin but the nurses seem to be happy with the progress Lori is making. Contractions are currently at about 2-3 minutes apart. Lori has not slept any. I have only slept about an hour (I know everyone is concerned with how I am holding up -LOL). I'll try and give another update around 5a.m.

It's Finally Gameday!!!! (Actually the Night Before)

We have made it to the hospital and survived the admission process. Lori has her IV hooked up and the nurse has given her the "tablet" that is supposed to prepare her for the petosin which will be started around 5 or 6 a.m. Nothing else to really report right now. I snapped the above picture after the nurses finished hooking her up to all of the machines. I will report back when we get some real action.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel

We can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. At our doctor's visit this morning, we decided to induce Thursday. We have two days till we'll be able to see our little girl! Matt and I are so excited and relieved. It feels so good to have a plan and to know that she will be here soon! I had no idea I'd feel this way at the end of my pregnancy, but it's been very hard emotionally. I am super ready to see her and to begin our family of three. Matt was relieved too and we are both anticipating the moment when we see her for the first time. It's almost here!

We're in the single digits!

Today we rolled into the single digits...just 9 days to go! It's a constant countdown at our house and I'm pretty sure I'm driving Matt crazy. After a high blood pressure check yesterday, I went back to have it checked again this morning. It was perfectly normal so I've chalked it up to anxiety. We are getting so close and the end and most importantly prize are in sight. I plan to walk and walk a lot this weekend to try to get her moving in the right direction.

10 is our lucky number!

Today, 10 (days) is the lucky number. We are getting so close to the due date that I can hardly stand it. Matt is much more relaxed than I, but still super excited.
We saw the doctor this afternoon. I am 1 cm dilated, but my cervix is still pretty high. He says it's not really "favorable" right now, so we'll be waiting a few more days. I'm scheduled to see him again on Tuesday and we'll reassess the situation. It's possible that if I am making further progress on Tuesday that we'll opt to induce the end of next week. However, if I am about the same, we'll probably wait it out another week (which will put us past our due date.)

The down side is she is in fact going to be as big as we initially thought. She was weighing in at 7 lbs. 13 oz. Our doctor suspects that last week's ultrasound was an anomaly. Her weight this week would be in line with all of the other ultrasounds we've done (and we were on a different machine last week.) Therefore, at a rate of 8 oz. per week, we're looking at over 8 lbs, which is what I was guessing to start with. She still has a Hennesy head, but her abdomen and hopefully chest and shoulders are perfectly normal.

Now it's just a waiting game. I'm mentally exhausted and ready for her arrival. My blood pressure was a little high and I will go in the morning to have it rechecked. That could present a problem, but hopefully it was due to anxiety today. I physically feel well. We have so much to be thankful for and Matt and I are super excited! We cannot wait to meet our little girl!

2 Weeks to Go...

We officially have only 14 days until our due date. Last night we were watching the UGA game with friends and my back was really hurting. I was starting to think that it could be back labor, but after it improved with a dose of Tylenol I chalked it up to regular back pain. We are super anxious and ready for her arrival. We go back to the doctor Thursday for a checkup. He'll do an ultrasound to make sure everything is still ok and check to see if I have dilated. I'm very hopeful that we are progressing in the right direction by then. I'm also excited about the chance to see her...even if it is the ultrasound version. Matt and I are so ready to see and hold our little girl. The anticipation is building and we are waiting on go!

19 Days to Go!

We have only 19 days till our due date! We had a doctor's appointment today. He checked to see if I was starting to dilate and unfortunately, I wasn't. I don't feel like she is going to come early or at least not by much, so I wasn't surprised. He did an ultrasound to check her measurements and weight.

The first time he measured, she was showing just shy of 6 lbs. This was a little alarming because at our 35 week visit she was showing 6 lbs. 3 oz. Our doctor remeasured and she was showing 6 lbs. 1 oz. Again, we were a little alarmed and I must say, I was a little scared. He asked to put me on the fetal heart rate monitor to make sure everything was OK. After about 30 minutes, he came in and verified that everything seemed to be fine.

He jokingly said that the person doing the previous ultrasound must not have known what they were doing (he of course was that person.) I asked if she could have actually lost weight and he responded that it wasn't likely. He figures that either there is a discrepancy in the machines (he used two different machines at 35 weeks and then at this appointment) or the measurements were wrong last time. He felt good about the measurements and weight this week. I am so thankful to have him as my doctor as he always knows exactly how to put me at ease.

Good news is she will probably be a little smaller than we predicted, yet there is a possibility for the machine to be reading a pound or so off. She still had a Hennesy head and her daddy and I are more ready than ever to see and hold her. We go back next week and will be checked again for dilation. We are being patient and know that this is now up to God and Holley Ryan when the time is right. We hope that she's here in about 19 days!

Our First Game Day

Saturday was the first game day for little Holley Ryan. Although Georgia lost, and let's not mention anything about that to her daddy, it was her first chance to cheer on the dawgs! We celebrated opening game day at the home of one of Matt's friends. Pictured with me is my expecting friend Julie (due October 6) and one of Matt's best friends, Brian. Matt cannot wait for his little girl to arrive so he can teach her all about football and especially the Georgia Bulldogs. We already have tiny outfits for this season, but will have much more fun with the Georgia apparel next year. We have an appointment with our doctor Tuesday and will find out if I'm starting to dilate. With only 20 days till due date, we are getting super excited! It's not going to be long now...

We're getting Closer...31 Days!

Today we visited our doctor and had an awesome ultrasound. First, Holley Ryan is weighing in at 6lbs, 3oz. Our doctor estimates that she'll be around 8 1/2 pounds if she goes to her due date. I've gained a total of 17 pounds from my beginning weight. So, I feel confident that I'll loose a good bit of my weight just with the arrival of Baby Hennesy. Second, I'd been asking the whole time how big her head is. Today, we learned that she does in fact have a Hennesy head...in the 87 percentile to be exact. This is all her daddy's fault, but I'm sure it's just a little above normal to hold all of the knowledge she'll surely be taught.
Everything else seemed to be average and normal. She has lots of hair, again a trait that she's inheriting from her daddy. We could see her precious face and little hands tucked tightly under her chin. We will go back to the doctor in 2 weeks and after that visit, every week. Matt and I are super excited and just waiting till she's ready. It's getting super close now...only 31 days to go!

40 Days to Go!

Julie and I have been friends for years. She is due just 9 days after me!

Sorry for the sideways photo! As you can tell, Holley Ryan is loved already! Matt has a reason to be concerned about me shopping for our baby girl...there are so many pretty things out there.

We're now down to just 40 days! I am 34 weeks pregnant and awaiting the arrival of our little girl. This past weekend, we had a couple's baby shower at the home of my brother and sister-in-law. It was a great time for everyone. Matt even got into opening the presents. We are really lucky and fortunate to have such wonderful family and friends. I think we have most everything we need, except the baby of course.

Holley Ryan is moving around a lot and responds to being poked. I'm not sleeping so well, but I've started getting pregnancy massages which do help the hip pain. I've been hearing a lot of forewarning about nursing and I must say I'm a little anxious about that. However, we're going to give it a shot when she's here and see how it works for us. It seems like the time has flown by and it's hard to believe we're down to 40 days. It won't be long now!

48 days till Show Time!

Yesterday marked the 33 week milestone. We now have 7 more weeks to go! We are super excited and are looking forward to her arrival. Her jabs and kicks are much more frequent now and certainly more powerful. We'll have another ultrasound at our 35 week appointment and our doctor will weigh and measure her. Matt and I were both over 8 lb babies so I am expecting a big girl. It's hard to believe it is getting so close now, but Matt and I are ready!

7 weeks, 3 days to go!

We are counting down the days till Holley Ryan is due. We had our 32 week checkup this week. She weighed in at 4 pounds, 7 ounces. We got a pretty good look at her little face in the ultrasound. Matt and I were super excited to be able to see her. She has hiccups about three or four times a day and is super active. We are so thankful for the wonderful experience we have had and pray that the remaining 7 plus weeks will go smoothly. Oh, we also could see hair in the ultrasound. I feel sure she'll have a head full of hair like her daddy (minus the grey!)

Triple Bumps

At my baby shower Saturday, the pregnant ladies got together for a photo. I have 8 weeks left before Holley Ryan is scheduled to arrive! Matt and I are so excited and love all of the wonderful gifts we got this weekend. There are so many pretty things for little girls (and boys too I'm sure.)

Who's belly is bigger?

At the beach, my father-in-law and I compared bellies. I am catching up super fast. I figured after a week of super rich foods and lots of it I would have gained major weight. I weighed this morning and I'm about 7 pounds above where I started. Keep in mind that I lost weight to start with and have gained that back. However, I am just keeping tabs on the pounds over my starting weight.

30 weeks and counting...down!

Today I am 30 weeks pregnant. From everything I have read, Holley Ryan should be approximately 3 pounds and 17 inches. At our last doctor's visit nearly 2 weeks ago, she was already weighing in at 2lbs. 10 oz. Therefore, I feel confident she's probably hitting the 3 pound mark. We spent the last week at the beach with Matt's family. It's our annual family vacation, but this year was different for me. Instead of seeing just how much sun I could absorb in the seven days we were there, I was mostly huddled in an SPF 50 tent to keep cool. I spent very short periods out of the water; fearful my baby girl would overheat. An afternoon cocktail was replaced with an afternoon snack and bed time was pushed up to 9ish instead of hours later. I'm having more and more pains in my hips during sleep so I rose between 6:30 and 7am every morning. I did enjoy cool morning walks on the beach and felt very relaxed when we came home yesterday. I cannot wait till next years trip when we will have our sweet baby girl with us!

All the pretty Things!

One of the biggest challenges I now face is resisting the urge to buy, buy, buy! There are so many precious things and clothes are my weakness. Matt tells me that I have to quit buying so much, but there are beautiful dresses, rompers, gowns and more. Several items in the closet are gifts, but many are the result of my new obsession. Oh and did I mention all of the gowns and onesies are in a drawer. Good news is she is moving regularly now with much greater force. I certainly can tell she is growing and getting closer to making her entrance into the world...11 weeks, 2 days to go!

She is GROWING!

Today I went in for my 28 week check up. She is growing just perfectly. At 2 pounds 10 ounces, our doctor says that she is doing GREAT! You could see so much during the ultrasound...although the pictures I've attached aren't that clear. You should know that it is definitely a girl. I had trusted that Dr. G knew what he was talking about when at 20 weeks he said girl. Today, I too could see clearly that she is just perfect. We are super excited and can't wait for her to get here!

12 Weeks to Go!

Today I am 28 weeks. I continue to grow and my belly is certainly looking pregnant. Fortunately I am only about 1 pound over where I started when I first found out I was pregnant (thanks to the initial 13 pounds I lost during the first 15 weeks.) She is more active now and it's obvious she too is growing by leaps and bounds. I can now feel when she gets under my ribs or jabs and kicks all over the place. I have noticed inconsistencies in her day to day activity and sometimes it is quite alarming. Matt reassures me that everything is OK and normal, but if she doesn't move one day I am quick to assume something is wrong. I will visit the doctor this week and tell him about my concerns. Her room is coming together and we are getting super excited. It's hard to believe that in about 12 weeks she'll be here to hold and love on. Matt and I simply cannot wait!

24 Weeks and Growing

I am 24 weeks this week and GROWING! I am about 5 pounds less than I was when I first found out I was pregnant. I guess there is certainly an up side to being sick in the beginning...although I didn't know that then. With 16 weeks to go, you can now see Holley Ryan kicking and punching away. I am feeling pretty good...just a little more tired than normal. Matt and I cannot wait for her to get here.

Monday, June 1, 2009

17 weeks to go!

Now is the time when I am enjoying counting down the weeks instead of counting up. I am 23 weeks this week and have 17 to go. Holley Ryan is kicking and punching hard enough to make my stomach move. I go back to the doctor in a couple of weeks, but I don't think we'll be doing an ultrasound at that appointment. I know she is growing and getting stronger. I can't believe how fast time is passing by!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

I am 22 weeks!

This past Sunday I hit the 22 week mark. It's a lot more fun now counting down the weeks since I'm over half way there. According to "What to Expect When You Are Expecting", Holley Ryan should be about a full pound now. I know that her movement is increasing and she has a powerful kick (or punch.) They are getting more frequent and you can certainly feel them now. Time is actually passing pretty quickly. Matt and I can't wait till she is here!

20 Weeks and We Now Know We are Having a...

We went to the doctor today and we found out we are having a GIRL! I was so excited that I screamed out loud. Matt and I couldn't be happier! It's such a wonderful thing to now know what we are having. I just couldn't stand not knowing any longer.

Monday, May 11, 2009

20 Weeks!

I have passed the half way mark this week. I am so excited. Matt and I will go back to the doctor this week for the 20 week appointment. He is still not interested in finding out the gender while I am barely thinking of anything else. I agree that it would be a great surprise, but I could be just as surprised this week! I am feeling him/her kick a lot lately and am looking forward to seeing the progress on the ultrasound. I'd like to know if we are expecting Baby Jack or Holley Ryan!

I must be feeling kicks!

I think I must be feeling Baby Hennesy kick. Unlike the flutters I have been feeling, I now feel stronger and independent (yet sometimes multiple) punches or kicks inside my belly. I haven't been able to feel them on the outside of my stomach just yet, but I feel like they are getting stronger. Hopefully within the next week or two others will be able to share the feeling. It's so amazing how fast things are progressing!

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

It's amazing to feel the baby!

I have been working at the computer most of the day, thus sitting still for the most part. I have felt Baby Hennesy moving a lot today. He/she has been increasing in movement and today I have felt a lot of movement. I still cannot feel anything on the outside of my stomach, but I hope within the next week or two I'll be able to share the feeling with Matt and others. It's so amazing!

17 Weeks

I am 17 weeks this week. I am noticing my stomach is continuing to slowly grow. Matt and I walked today and I can tell I am terribly out of shape. I need to be exercising daily, so I am going to make an effort to get in the gym. I am feeling pretty well with occasional nausea and now that I have my Snoogle (a full body pregnancy pillow) I am sleeping much better. I am still wishing I had found out whether I am having a girl or boy so we'll see how I feel at the next appointment. I have been much more tired than normal and I hope that too soon improves. Overall, everything is moving along smoothly and I am feeling much better.

16 Weeks!

I went to my 16 week check up today. Everything was progressing normally. The doctor could even have told us the gender today, but we chose not to find out. It is a lot harder not to find out than I originally thought it would be. I don't know if I'll be able to stand not to know now. I had gained 1 lb. in four weeks. If only I could keep up that momentum! He or she was yawning this morning. His/her little mouth was opening and closing the whole time we were watching. It was pretty amazing. I am so anxious for the next appointment. I am feeling much better and just really excited! The photo above isn't great, but you can see the spine and how much he/she is growing.

Sunday, April 5, 2009

I am 15 weeks today!

As you can tell, I am growing considerably. I am feeling better and my appetite is back so I am starting to gain my weight back. I will start walking soon. We go back to the doctor in a little over a week for our 16 week check up. We will get to see another ultrasound so I can hardly wait! I have no idea what we will be having so I guess Matt and I will have to keep predicting.

14th Week!

I am now in my 14th week. I was out of town on Sunday so I didn't get a photo for this week. I'll be sure to post one at 15 weeks. While I was gone, I got a new prediction for the baby's gender. Someone that works with my department on state publications has a reputation for picking baby's gender and picking them right. She told me back in June or July of last year that I would be the next tourism rep that would get pregnant...she was right about that. So, she says that it's a girl! She predicted back before I actually got pregnant that I would have a girl. She picked the last two rep's right too. We will see in about 25-26 weeks if she is right!

Friday, March 27, 2009

Is it a boy? Is it a girl?

The curiosity about the gender of the baby is starting to build. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? In my heart, I really feel like it may be a boy. However, I have nothing to base that feeling on and it could just as well be a girl. My father-in-law says he predicted Laura (Matt's sister) right and he thinks I am having a boy too! The Chinese Calendar says it's a girl, but with a 50/50 probability. I also took a wives tale quiz that predicts gender and it also said 50% boy, 50% girl. Some of the answers were boy predictors and some were girl. Bottom line, I've got a 50% chance that my gut feeling is right.

It's still growing...

It really doesn't look a lot different from last week. I can tell a little difference, but it is about the same. I weighed the same for a few days now so that is good news. I'm at least holding steady and not loosing any more. I have felt better since I've got the new prescription for nausea and vomiting. I am still tired, but managing pretty well. I must say that I am enjoying not vomiting every day and it is making pregnancy much more enjoyable. I am very anxious to see the next ultrasound which will be in three more weeks. I plan to start walking now and trying not to gain wait quickly. My appetite is returning so I'm very excited about that too!

Look at this belly...

This is my growing belly at 12 weeks! I am approximately 13 pounds lighter than I was when I got pregnant, but my belly continues to get rounder and bigger. Thank goodness for expandable pants!

New Photos! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I went to the doctor today for my 12 week visit. I was two pounds lighter and was sick in his office. He prescribed me some new nausea medicine that is helpful for chemotherapy patients. I am hopeful this new medicine will help the nausea and vomiting. Baby Hennesy is continuing to grow and is now approximately 2 1/2 inches from head to rump. You could see his/her arms and legs moving about. My mom went with me today and she was so excited to see the very first pictures of her grand baby. I will now go to the doctor every four weeks until closer to the due date.

Chinese Calendar Prediction

I tried to use the Chinese Calendar to predict the gender of the baby. It said based on my age at conception, I was having a girl. However, when you looked at the probability it was 50/50. I knew that already! So, back to square one. I guess the best prediction thus far was Julie's boy prediction.

Morning and Night Sickness

For some reason, lately I have been sick in the morning and at night. During the day, the nausea is getting a little better but at night it gets worse again. I will be 12 weeks on Sunday and hopefully over the next couple of weeks I will see a turn around. I'm looking forward to my next doctor's visit so I can see the baby again!

I am 11 weeks!

Yesterday marked 11 weeks! I can hardly believe I am almost to the end of the first trimester. I am hopeful that I will be less nauseated and sick after 12 or 13 weeks. I hope to start walking soon. I've been told that the better conditioned your body is the easier delivery will be. I have some great walking partners lined up so I am looking forward to feeling like getting active again. This photo was taken over the weekend to show my 11 weeks progress.

Pregnancy is Tough

Last night, I woke Matt up around 4 am because I was sick. The nausea was bad enough to wake me. I of course took my medicine and ate a popcicle. This morning I was getting ready for a presentation and vomiting too. I have so much empathy for mothers and soon to be mothers. While I know without a shawdow of a doubt this will all be worth it, it is certainly taxing on your body and mind. Our doctor reassured me that Baby Hennesy will get what he/she needs so I feel comfortable about the well being of baby. Matt is being such a great nurse and patient with me. I am so excited just thinking about the next visit and getting to see Baby Hennesy again! I still can't believe how much we could see in the last ultrasound.

You Can't Deny This is Precious

Matt and I figured out that the clearest way to see the ultrasound photo was to take a picture of it with the camera. So here it is! Baby Hennesy! My friend, Julie, says that there is a theory that would say it's a boy. My calculated due date would be September 29. My actual due date is September 27. The theory is boys are quick swimmers and short lived. Girls are slow swimmers and live long. Because my actual due date is before my calculated due date, it means I must have gotten pregnant early in ovulation. If this were true, Julie would guess I would have a boy. It's not scientific or factual, but a theory. Matt's happy about it though!
